Sugar Druzy Quartz-Coated Green Fluorite – Xia Yang Mine, Fujian, China
An impressive Green Fluorite specimen coated with sparkling Sugar Druzy Quartz, originating from the Xia Yang Mine (Xiayang Mine), Yongchun County, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, China.
This striking large cabinet specimen features beautiful translucent mint-green Fluorite crystals partially enveloped by a fine, sugar-like coating of white Druzy Quartz. The delicate crystalline coating creates a frosted, sparkling appearance, contrasting beautifully with the rich green Fluorite beneath.
The specimen displays an attractive arrangement of intergrown Fluorite crystals, with visible cubic faces and stepped crystal formations. Areas of exposed green Fluorite provide a lovely contrast against the densely coated white surfaces, while the underlying grey matrix adds depth and natural character.
Scattered warm golden-brown areas provide additional visual interest, making this a particularly appealing mineral specimen from Fujian Province.

Collector's Highlights
Sparkling Sugar Druzy Quartz Coating
The Fluorite crystals are partially covered with fine white Quartz microcrystals, creating a delicate, sugary texture that sparkles under suitable lighting.
Beautiful Mint-Green Fluorite
Translucent green Fluorite crystals remain visible through openings in the white coating, producing an attractive contrast between smooth crystal faces and finely crystallized surfaces.
Distinctive Crystal Arrangement
Intergrown cubic Fluorite crystals form an interesting three-dimensional arrangement, with contrasting exposed and Quartz-coated areas.
Classic Fujian Mineral Locality
Originating from the Xia Yang Mine in Yongchun County, Fujian Province, China, a locality associated with collectible Fluorite specimens.
Large Cabinet Display Piece
Measuring approximately 150 mm across and weighing 408 grams, this specimen offers an impressive display presence for a mineral cabinet or specialized Fluorite collection.
Care and Handling
Fluorite has a Mohs hardness of 4 and perfect octahedral cleavage, making it vulnerable to scratches and impacts.
The fine Druzy Quartz coating should also be handled carefully to preserve its delicate crystalline texture.
Avoid ultrasonic cleaning, harsh chemicals, and unnecessary washing. Store away from direct sunlight and handle the specimen by its stable matrix wherever possible.
